Fracking? What’s That?
Fracking is a huge issue here in central NY. Some of our students have been learning lately that authors write for certain reasons. On of those ways is to inform. Check out what the students think and comment back. We are developing kids who love the environment and want to take care of it!

Hey world it’s alyssa. You might wonder what fracking is. well it is when people go 2 miles down in ground and 1 mile over. They send down sand, water and chemicals to break up shale that holds natral gas. It could seem good but it’s not at all good! If they frack it can turn your water yellow and you may not be able to take a shower or drink the water. FRACKKING IS BAD DON’T DO IT!!!!

Hey its CR from MR.D’s class what would rather do GROTON get coverd in money and die at the age of 13,12,11 or even 10 or do you want live at the rigtful age of 85 and get a big sign that has fracking in the middle with an x through it. who needs shall anyways all you do is burn it wich polutin which kills the world in the end.It kills the ground too it shoots sand,water and chemicals.

yo,yo,yo This is shannon from mr d’s class and i am talking about fracking like its hurting the water.Its hurting the water because its 2 miles down and our water is 1 mile down.Its going in our showers,wells,and any other thing that give u water.

Hi this is David from Mr.D’s class and lately there has been some fuss about fracking.Fracking is were workers pump sand water and chemicals into the ground to break shale 2 miles down in the ground to pump out natural gas. If there is shale under your land I say don’t let them start fracking because it could kill you if it gets water pipes,I mean come on would you rather have LOTS of MONEY or LIFE because I would rather see LIFE than be a SHALEIONAIRE.If you would rather come home one day and see your friends or somebody that you know dead on the floor and have money to use to calm yourself down because your friend is dead,because I would rather say no and not let them frack near my house.All I want people to do is say GET OF MY PROPERDY NO FRACKING IN THIS TOWN NOBODY LIKES IT.

fracking good or bad? my opinion of fracking is bad sure you will get a lot of money but the oil spill that happened last year could be worst. what they do is they drill 2 miles down and 1 mile in for shael. if your wondering what is shael is it is a rock that hase natrul gas yoused in cars. also sand,water,and chemicals are under ground in the water that you could be using right know

Did you also know that fracking is were sand,water,and chemicals are blasted in the ground to provent fracking. Do you like fracking? Yes or No?

Hey this is S.S. and I think fracking is horrible because it is making a bunch of people sick. Fracking is when people drill in machines 2 miles down and 1 mile in to find shale. Shale has a natural gas in it that we can use. It’s bad though because when they drill under ground they have to go under water level and their machines put chemicals in the water making it a yellowish color. If you shower with it you will instantaneously get sick. The same will happen if you drink it. They are fracking because they won’t have to get it from Iraq.

hey yo world you know its christy from mr.ds class. Do you guys know what fracking is well i will tell you if you dont. Ok fracking is when you have these rocks under the earth what the rocks have in them is natural gas. And fracking is when water and sand , other comicals that go down and brake the rock for the gas . But can be very dangerus to do to the earth. Because it can make an other oil spill. that is so not not not not good at all.But if you have shale witch is the rocks you can get lots of money so people to come get the shale. And the natural gas will be alot chepper so you dont have to pay as much for gas. your friend christy.

hey whats up world its T.H. from mr.ds class we have been learning about fracking like did you know fracking can make your water yellow and filled with chemicals. what is fracking well fracking is when people shoot down sand,water,and chemicals to break the rocks and get the natural gas inside the rocks.some people think this is good or cool because you can get lots of money and the gas price will go down but really this can get very bad chemicals in the water you use every single day.so don’t frack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey i’s #27 from Mr.D’s class i’m here to talk about Fraking. Fracking is were chemicals, water, and sand are shot into the ground to break a rock called SHALE. Shale is a rock that has natral gas in it so it would make gas prices drop like Crazy NOT joking and if you have shale in your yard you could be a shaleinonire yep lots of money but heres the catch if they drill the chemicals could get in your water and kill you plus you could end up with a big piece of junk in your yard the question is would you rather have alot of MONEY of lots of LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

HOWDY PEOPLE,it’s Kara from Mr.D’s class fracking is were someone drills a very big hole in the ground to get natural gas it may seem like not that bad of an idea but really its really really really really bad for us and the Earth its bad because that gas could go in our drinking water and shower/bath water and turn it yellow YUCK!!!!I dont know about you but I want to be showering in yellow water.That is why fracking is HORRIBLE!!!!!!You know what you should do get a sign that says fracking with a red line through it.

Hey groton elmentary school what do you think about this fracking thing they are like telling you life or money what one would you chose well I would chose life over monrybecause you will just die then hand all of your money to someone else inless you get lucky the chances are you will die pridy much so I would not take any chances so if I were you I would take life in stead of dieing so be smart and take life in stead of goting sick and dieing like most of the other people so if you have shall on your property say no to to there little deal and take life over money so you can havea longer so say no to fracking from J.G

I am VERY concerned about fracking too.
But…. where are we going to get energy to heat our buildings and drive our cars? Coal is out, nuclear is questionable. What should we do???

Hey it is Kelsey from Mr D’s 5th grade class,
I don’t want to have fracking, because it is bad for the environment. The reason it is bad is, because people dig 2 miles down in the ground and they take these really thin rocks that have natural gas in them. Yes it would lower the gas price, but i makes your water turn yellow and if you take a shower in it or drink it, it could make you sick. You could possibly die and we don’t want that to happen. So are you going to let some one dig in your lawn (even if you get a lot of money) or are you going to SOTP FRACKING?????????

Hey it is J.G from Mr.D’s class and I am not sure that it is a really bad because I do not know about the possibilities of what will happen and it is a good a thing if it does not git in your water and it mite not happen if you have this so called fracking is done and you have the problem with your water well I would make sure that if they ask you if you want this fracking done well I am pridy sure that you will say no because you don’t want this to happen ever again so that your family and you are not sick then you and your family can stop being sick because of this fracking and I my self have heard that the persistent of how much little of this could happen so I do not know who to believe because the people that had this done say nothing happened but they probably moved so they mite not know so they will just say that nothing happened so that the government can’t stop the gas drilling so they can have more money if they have more of the shall then they can be rich again then get more things and just be more greedy and just drop everyone even your mom and dad and they have helped you in life that is all they are trying to get you to love money more than any thing in the world so that we have cheaper gas and pretty much telling you forget about all of your worry about getting sick and don’t worry about dieing so I am trying to say I do not like it!

This is Scott and I’m saying fracking is bad and it is unhealthy for people because chemicals are getting into the people’s water. The way the chemicals get into the water is by the drilling machines going under the water and letting go chemicals and it gets into the water. I wouldn’t let people frack in my back yard because I would have chemicals in my water that I drink and shower with.

Hi mr.Yale, i know what your saying. Fracking is one of the few ways to get energy from the earth. I still think Fracking is bad.

I think people should be smart about energy. If you build a house, put more windows in the south to let solar energy in. Use solar panels and wind mills. Geothermal heat. Turn off your lights and TV when not in use. CONSERVE what is around us so our grandchildren don’t say “WHAT WERE THEY THINKING BACK IN 2010?!?!?!”
